About Our Little One

Updated 8/19/12

On December 23rd, 2011 we found out we were pregnant! My husband actually found out before I did!  I took the HPT while we were both home, put the cap back on, set it on a table to wait for the instructed 3 minutes, and sorta forgot about it.  A minute or so later, Aaron walked up and stood awkwardly next to me with the biggest, goofiest grin I've ever seen.  Then we ran around the apartment yelling random things like, "We're gonna be PAARENTSSS!!!"   :)

--------------

We announced the pregnancy at our families' Christmas gatherings; Aaron's side on Christmas Eve and my side on Christmas day.  We took a photo of us with our puppy in front of the tree like a Christmas card and added a caption that said, "Merry Christmas from the four of us!"  When we passed around the cards, most everyone got it right away and lots of hugs went around :)

--------------

My first trimester was an easy one; with my most severe symptoms being my sense of smell and gag reflex.  Baby started growing right away, I had a noticeable "bump" by 10 weeks!  My skin took a slight turn for the worse and I never had any real cravings but my dreams became very frequent and vivid.

--------------

My second trimester brought on a few more symptoms like laziness, swollen feet and hands, a bump the size of a fully-inflated party balloon, and baby MOVEMENTS!  That's the best part of being pregnant :)  We also chose the baby's names, one for each gender.  Riley Bliss or Gideon Levi.

--------------

We announced the gender to my family at Easter during the annual photo shoot.  As my aunt was positioning everyone I stepped forward and loudly said, "Maybe I should stand in front so the camera can get a good view of Gideon!" It took a bit for everyone to catch on, but that was a really fun way to reveal that we were expecting a BOY!  We told Aaron's family when were all together one day after church.

--------------

My third trimester (which as of today is still ongoing, I'm 39 weeks exactly), as expected, brought even more symptoms like a belly the size of a medium-sized pumpkin, sore feet, silky hair and my skin still hasn't cleared up.  Baby is very active after I eat cold things and when he hears Aaron's voice.  Sometimes I'm sitting on the couch and when Aaron gets home from work,  Gideon wakes up and immediately starts kicking around like he's excited dad is there!  It's pretty neat  :)
